Florence
Gordon
Nov 24, 1930 — Apr 22, 2023
Florence Gordon of Crawfordsville, formerly of Mace, passed away Saturday at Compassus Hospice. She was 92.
Born in Morris, Minnesota on Nov. 24, 1930, she was the daughter of Charles H. Herman and Tressa Lutterman Herman. She graduated from Wykoff High School in Wykoff, Minnesota. She married Arthur H. Gordon on March 25, 1953 in Yuma, Arizona and he passed away on August 25, 2009.
Mrs. Gordon was an active member of the "Golden Girls," homemaker's club and attended the Mace United Methodist Church. She started her career in high school helping to run a small town's telephone company as a switchboard operator and later for Bell Telephone in Minneapolis. As well as raising her family she was dispatcher for National Trailer Convoy assigning drivers to deliver trailers from Prowler Travel Trailer in Crawfordsville, then retired from Alcoa in the shipping department.
Surviving family includes: two daughters, Sandra Henderson (Bill), Dawn Parry (Ron); two sons, Paul Gordon (Dianne) and David Gordon; grandchildren, Joshua, Joey, Jeremy, Brandon, Jennifer, Toby, Tressa, Samantha, Crystal, and Amber; fourteen great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 27 th at Burkhart Funeral Home from 12 Noon to 2:30 PM. Services will begin at 2:30, led by Pastor Tami Mussche. After the service, she will be laid to rest at Mace Cemetery.
It is difficult to squeeze almost 100 years of living into a few paragraphs but her most loved accomplishment was being a part of and helping her family grow, dropping everything she may be doing for herself to help. So with that in mind if you would like to make a donation in her memory, she was very fond of the work and help provided by the Women's Resource Center, 407 E. Market Street, Suite 106, Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
