Darrell Eugene Parke, Sr. of Crawfordsville passed away Monday night at home. He was 77.
Mr. Parke was a member of Church Alive. He worked at W & M Plastics, Pace Dairy and spent close to 20 years at Lithonia Lighting. He liked listening to music, camping, fishing and riding his bike. He loved spending time with his family.
He was born July 25, 1942 to John and Mabel Walker, then was adopted by Joseph and Helen Parke. He graduated from Darlington High School in 1960. He married Barbara Hargis on April 3, 1971 in Crawfordsville. She passed away Feb. 3, 2013.
Surviving family includes: daughter, Tammy Parke (Larry Lewellen) of Crawfordsville; son, Darrell Parke, Jr. (Stacy) of Crawfordsville; five grandchildren, Bernice Brown, Cailin Alexander, Crystal Alexander, Jason Alexander, Joseph Parke; great-granddaughter, Sophia Romine; two nephews, Bobby Walker, John Walker; niece, Diana Ruffner (Danny); the father to three of his grandchildren, who also acted as his caretaker in his last days, Duane Alexander.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four biological siblings, Frances Black, Robert Walker, Betty Mitchell and Bill Walker.
He requested cremation and his ashes be placed by his wife's grave at Stoner Cemetery, east of Ladoga. A service to celebrate the life of Darrell Parke, Sr. will be held at 2 PM on Monday, July 6 th at Church Alive, 1203 E. Main Street, Crawfordsville.
