Clyde "Bud" Brady

Known as Turkey Lips to most people in town, Bud Brady, who had just celebrated his 97th birthday on March 27, joined his wife of 69 years in heaven on April 2, 2025.

Bud was quite a character.  He was mischievous, tender, grumpy and all around ornery.  He often held court over coffee at the Forum, entertaining guests, and harassing the servers.  His humor welcomed strangers and influenced his family.  Bud loved dogs, got teary eyed over little children and was faithful to his wife, his country and his T100 Toyota pick up truck.

In his 41 years in the National Guard Bud achieved rank of Command Sergeant Major. He was a Scout Master, a Mason, A member of American Legion, and a long time member of Young's Chapel Christian Church.

Bud was married to Lois Loraine Smith in 1950 and together they had five children: Becky Shelton, Cathy Dugard, Buddy (Jan) Brady, Denny (Kat) Brady, and Dawn Brady (Steve Wimmer).  From these they treasured 12.5  grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 3 great, great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his  parents, Clyde Sr and Jessie May Apple, step mother Ruth (Stewart) and his brothers, Donald and Carl David Brady,

Visitation will be at Burkhart Funeral Home on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 1-3 with a service beginning at 3:00 p.m.  Crawfordsville will not be the same without him.
