Christopher J. Wood

Christopher Joe Wood of Waynetown passed away Wednesday, Oct. 1 at Franciscan East in Lafayette at the age of 61.

Chris worked at Steel Technologies.  He liked watching old westerns and going hiking.  He was a gun enthusiast.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren.  He served his country in the U.S. Army.

Born Sept. 29, 1964 in Crawfordsville, he was the son of Bobby Joe Wood and Alice Keller Wood.  He graduated from Crawfordsville High School.  He married Sondra Collier on Jan. 8, 1988.  She survives.

Surviving family includes: wife, Sondra Wood of Waynetown; two daughters, Lacey LaFata (Dane) and Kelsey Wood (Kyle McHargue); seven grandchildren, Charis LaFata, Devry Strong, Payton McHargue, Athena LaFata, Brayden McHargue, Tylan Wood and Caroline McHargue.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Chryston Wood and Tena Wood, as well as a granddaughter, Cheyanna.

Visitation will be from 5 PM to 7 PM on Monday, October 6th at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 West Wabash Avenue, Crawfordsville.
