Charles William Turpin of Crawfordsville passed away Sunday morning at Lane House.  He was 81.

Mr. Turpin worked at Harrison Steel and Crawfordsville sanitation, but later owned his own business, HideAway Auto, west of Crawfordsville.  He attended school in Kentucky.

Born July 14, 1938 in Liberty, Kentucky he was the son of Cosby Turpin and Ada B. Wesley Turpin.  He married Carol Ann Walker on April 8, 1967.  She passed away April 9, 2012.

Surviving family includes: two daughters, Loree J. McCloud (Rich Woods) and Brooke Elliott (Eric), both of Crawfordsville; five grandchildren, Darrin (Kadee), Derek (Macie), Dustin (Ambria), Caden and Addison; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Carol Turpin, he was preceded in death by: his parents; a son, Todd; four brothers, Bobby, Dewie, Gary and Ernie Turpin Sr.; three sisters, Ruby, Roxie and Donnie; nephew, Ernie Turpin, Jr.

Visitation will be from Noon to 2 PM Wednesday, Feb. 12 at Burkhart Funeral Home.  Services will begin at 2 PM, led by Pastor Vernon Dowell.  Burial will follow at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
