Darlington
William "Bill" Taylor of Darlington passed away Sunday morning at Franciscan Health of Crawfordsville. He was 76.
Bill was many things: a handyman, woodworker, car mechanic, horse trainer, magician and cowboy. He was a member of the Congregational Christian Church, Vietnam Helicopter Crew Members Association and the Darlington American Legion. He served his country in the U. S. Army as SP-5 of 6 th airlift platoon I-Corps, crew-chief, door gunner in Da Nang, Vietnam and later in the National Guard as 1 st Sergeant at Battery C 2nd battalion 1050 th field artillery.
Born July 24, 1943 in Greensburg, Indiana, he was the son of Elmer Ellsworth Taylor and Bertha Taylor. He graduated from North Vernon High School, class of 1962. He married the former Donna Fidler on August 22, 1988. She survives.
Surviving family includes: wife, Donna Taylor of Darlington; son, Bill Taylor II of Crawfordsville; daughter, Gail Nordby (Jeff) of Caldwell, Idaho; step-son, Michael Davis (Andi) of Colfax; step-daughter, Missy Cosby of Darlington; brother, Elmer Taylor; five grandchildren, Ty Cosby, Miranda Taylor, Tori Davis, Taylor Davis and Michael Taylor.
Services with military rites will be held at 6 PM Friday, Aug. 23 at the Congregational Christian Church, Darlington, led by Pastor Seth Stultz. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 PM Friday at the church. Private burial will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery in Darlington.
