Barbara A. LaFollette

Feb. 26, 1933-Jan. 11, 2024

Barbara A. LaFollette of Darlington passed away Thursday morning at Franciscan Health of Lafayette.  She was 90.

Barbara was an avid Indiana Pacers fan.  She liked cooking, baking, making candy and gardening.  She worked at First National Bank, then Ladoga Federal Savings and Loan and finally at Country Mark Co-Op.  She was a member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church in Shannondale.

Born Feb. 26, 1933 in Crawfordsville, she was the daughter of Stephen M. Smith and Marie E. LaFollette Smith.  She graduated from Darlington High School.

Surviving family includes: son, David M. LaFollette (Jill) of Darlington; daughter, Debra A. Curl of Frankfort; brother, John Richard Smith of Crawfordsville; four grandchildren, Carrie Dale (Ryan), Hope Luper (fiancé Mike Ziebarth), Mike Curl and Carin Messick (Cade); nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Wilma Jane Vannice, brother, James Robert Smith and granddaughter, Patricia LaFollette.

Visitation will be from 11 AM to 1 PM Saturday, Jan. 20th at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 W. Wabash Avenue, Crawfordsville.  Services will begin at 1 PM.  The family asks that attire be weather appropriate and less formal.  After the service, she will be laid to rest at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Darlington.
